PURPOSE: To carry out forming of complex curvature by using two sets of dies in the hydraulic forming for producing tube members of a vehicle exhaust or intake manifold. CONSTITUTION: The tube member 100 is fed to a hydraulic forming press 10, filled with proper liquid and pressurized. The two sets of dies are disposed in order to form the complex bending part. First, the upper die 32 and lower die 26 of the first set 30 is engaged to the tube and forms the bending part along a plane vertical to the tube. Subsequently, the parallel dies of the second set is inwardly inserted wedgewise with respect to the first die set to open the first die set and, at the same time, the bending part along the plane parallel to the tube is formed. In such a manner, the complex curved shape suitable for using in the vehicle manifold is formed in the tube. |
