摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To provide a method for causing a planar or three-dimensional discharge by applying asymmetrical polyphase currents, in the order of phases, to the same number of discharge electrodes as the phases. CONSTITUTION:A three-phase transformer and six single-phase leakage transformers S1-S6 are arranged in pairs S1 and S4, S5 and S2, and S3 and S6 for every phase of symmetrical three-phase voltage, and each of the pairs are connected in parallel with each other. The three sets of six single-phase transformers S1-S6 have their secondary windings made into diametrical connections. The transformers S1, S4 have their respective output terminals taken out from the middle point of their secondary windings at which the winding ratio is 1/2. When their asymmetrical six-phase alternating currents are displayed in a stationary vector diagram, the end points of vectors E1-E6 form a rectangle. Discharge electrodes T1-T6 are arranged so that a rectangle which the ends of the discharge electrodes T1-T6 form is similar to the former rectangle, whereby a high-yield, rectangular plane discharge is obtained within an area surrounded by the discharge electrodes T1-T6.</p>
