<p>PURPOSE:To provide a developing method by which a uniform toner thin layer is formed on a developing roller and enough developing property is obtd. even when a nonmagnetic one-component developer having small particle size is used. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic one-component developer consists of a nonmagnetic toner and barium sulfate held on the surface of the toner. The nonmagnetic toner essentially consists of a binder resin, coloring agent and charge controlling agent. The charge controlling agent consists of a grafted polymer (C1) which has polystyrene main chains containing >=50mol% styrene in the structural monomers and has grafted chains having the skeleton expressed by formula I, or consists of the grafted polymer (C1) and a polymer (C2) expressed by formula II. The developing method is a non-contact method which uses the nonmagnetic one-component developer above described. In the formulae, R1 is 11-17C hydrocarbon groups, R2 and R3 are hydrogen atoms or 1-8C hydrocarbon groups, R4 is 1-12C alkylene group, X<-> is an anion and (m) and (p) are integers 2 to 100.</p> |
