PURPOSE:To provide a voice data compression device in which the compression rate is improved while keeping a high tone quality. CONSTITUTION:Analogue voice signals are converted into a series of voice data by an A/D converter 2 and the converted voice data are temporarily stored in a register 3. By the address specification of the address selector 5, a series of voice data kept in the register 3 are arranged in a matrix memory 4. At this time, the voice data are arranged in a two-dimensional matrix so that the data are correlated in horizontal and vertical directions. The voice data arranged in the memory 4 are two-dimensional discrete cosine converted by a two-dimensional DCT section 6 and DCT coefficients are obtained. |
