<p>PURPOSE:To attain smoothing processing by the use of minimum memory capacity by controlling the number of lines to be referred to by smoothing the processing in accordance with the density of an image signal and referring to picture elements in the controlled line to execute the processing. CONSTITUTION:An interpolating logic circuit A 18 multiplies the main scanning direction density of peripheral picture elements around a noticed picture element by a prescribed value to convert an input signal into a smoothed signal. This conversion is executed by comparing output data from a shift register 12 with previously determined plural dot patterns. In a slash approximate to a vertical line, a prescribed unit of dots is added so as to reduce a step difference from an adjacent picture element. In a slash approximate to a horizontal line, a prescribed unit of small dots is added as density to the vicinity of a picture element forming a step difference. Since a step difference part of a printed image is blurred and smoothed, a smoothing effect can be obtained.</p> |
