PURPOSE:To obtain a print method and a printer by which a print image compatible with gradation and resolution of a natural image is attained even from an input image signal having gradation of the natural image even when a binary printer such as the ink jet system is employed. CONSTITUTION:A received image signal (R, G, B) is subject to color conversion and processed exclusively into a black signal comprising a black component and a hue signal comprising color components by a signal processing process (means). Then the signal of the black component and the color components is processed in matching the visual characteristic of a human being (black component is subject to high frequency emphasis processing and color component is subject to high frequency interrupt processing) and a gradation signal suitable for processing (e.g., a variable gradation signal from a black component based on an output of a frequency discrimination process(means) and a fixed gradation signal from a color component), a black print element and a color print element are used. |
