PURPOSE:To obtain a half tone image having high gradation level and prevented from the deterioration of resolution by counting the number of white or black picture elements in an window in a false half tone image and estimating the density of a half tone based upon relation between the number of white or black picture elements and window size. CONSTITUTION:The number of white picture elements in an window around a remarked picture element in a false half tone image is counted to calculate the density of white picture elements. The picture element density values of windows respectively having five picture elements to nine picture elements as the length of one side are similarly calculated. Then the picture element density of a picture element corresponding to one side of an window is found out based upon relation between the length of one side of each window and the picture element density. Since the density of one picture element corresponding to one side of the window can be estimated, an estimated half tone image prevented from the deterioration of resolution can be obtained. |
