PURPOSE:To precisely recognize a coin with simple constitution. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1 irradiates the surface of the coin 7 with light. The regularly reflected light is read by a read part 2, and a picture take-in part 3 takes in the light as a picture signal. A feature extraction part 4 emphasizes the level change of a part when the part where the change of a signal level by the unevenness of the surface of the coin 7 is more than a prescribed value which is previously decided exists in the picture signal. The feature extraction part 4 compares the picture signal where the level change is emphasized with a previously set threshold, and sets the picture signal to be binarized data. A judgement part 5 compares binarized data with a registration pattern as reference data of a registration pattern storage part 6 and identifies the coin. |
