PURPOSE:To avoid the occurrence of jagging by applying gradations so as to overlap them on multilevel line drawings in the color areas of a colored image. CONSTITUTION:A television camera 1 picks up the image of a line drawing drawn on a sheet-shaped medium 10 such as paper, an A/D converter 2 converts it to digital signals expressing the luminance of respective picture elements, a line drawing processing unit 4 forms a line image based on multilevel line drawing data stored in a storage device 7a, and a coloring unit 5 colors the fine line image. Namely, multilevel line drawing data expressing the image picked-up multilevel line drawing are formed, fine line drawing data expressing the line drawing composed of lines with the width of one picture element are formed, colored image data expressing the colored image are provided by performing coloring processing with the line with the width of one picture element as a border line mutually between color areas, and the multilevel line drawing is overlapped on this colored image. Thus, the gradations are applied to the part overlapped on the multilevel line drawing in the color areas of the colored image. |
