PURPOSE:To provide an optical coupler which is easily producible, has high mechanical strength and is capable of well maintaining various kinds of characteristics. CONSTITUTION:The incident and exit parts of optical fiber devices 13 and 14 for guiding incident and exit light beams to and from the incident and exit parts of an optical waveguide substrate 2 held within the recessed part of a glass holder 11 having a recessed shape in section are respectively optically coupled. The glass holder 11 of the optical waveguide 2 and the glass holders of the optical fiber devices 13, 14 are respectively composed of heat ray absorptive glass which absorb YAG laser beams. |
