摘要 PURPOSE:To adjust the movement distance of a vehicle per unit time and to estimate the present position of the vehicle with good accuracy in a navigation apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Movement distances, per unit time, which are detected by a movement-distance detection means 102 and an angle-of-rotation detection means 103 and the distance between the position of a vehicle found on the basis of a circling angle and the position of a vehicle computed by a GPS receiver 101 are found by a distance-error computation means 107. When a distance error is large, a movement-distance adjustment means 108 expands and contracts the movement distances per unit time. A present-position estimation means 105 which has been informed of the expanded and contracted movement distances per unit time, of the circling angle and of a GPS estimating position of an own vehicle on the basis of the circling angle and the movement distances as well as on the basis of the direction and the position of a road in map data 104. A drawing means 106 displays the estimated present position of the vehicle and a map in the circumference.
