PURPOSE:To search an optimum route to meet the usual driving tendency of a driver. CONSTITUTION:A traveling condition detecting and recording part 15 detects traveling speed classified by the kind and the width of a road on which a vehicle has traveled by using a vehicle position and time detected by a GPS receiver 2 and the map data of a CD-ROM 1, and records beforehand a histogram in a traveling condition memory 16. When the driver sets a route guidance mode, and designates a destination, a start place.destination setting part 18 sets a designated place as the destination and a present place as a start place. Subsequently, a driving tendency analyzing part 19 analyzes the degree of skill of the driver by using the recorded data of the traveling condition memory 16, and in the case of a skilled driver, an optimum route searching part 20 searches the optimum route in which the simple cumulative distance of distance between intersecting points is shortest, and in the case of an unskilled driver, it searches the optimum route in which the cumulative distance weighted in accordance with the width is shortest, and stores it in a guiding route memory 21. After this, a map picture drawing part 12 draws a map picture including the vehicle position together with a guiding route and a vehicle position mark, and displays them on a display device 4. |
