PURPOSE:To provide an optical fiber connecting system which lessens attenuation of signals at connecting surfaces and facilitates connection in connecting a multimode optical fiber having a large core diameter and a single mode optical fiber having a small core diameter and a connecting module. CONSTITUTION:A first lens 6 of a long focal length having a focal length of the ratio of the core diameters of the two optical fibers and a second lens 7 of a short focal length are arranged within a holder 11 so as to face the spacing between two pieces of the optical fibers in connecting the optical fibers having the core diameter of the multimode fiber core 4 of the multimode optical fiber 1 and the core diameter of the single mode fiber core 5. These fibers are connected by moving a single mode fiber holder 9 holding the single mode optical fiber core forward and backward in the optical axis direction and moving the single mode fiber guide 10 along the end face of the cylindrical holder, thereby adjusting the fibers. |
