PURPOSE:To recognize all specified areas on an original and to perform rectangular processing to the areas by optically scanning the original plural times even when areas more than the number of rectangular information storing registers are specified on the original. CONSTITUTION:A scanner starts prescanning and a marker detecting part 40 detects a frame line of an original that is, picture elements having frame information written by a marker pen or the like. When an area judging part 41 judges an area surrounded by the detected frame line, a rectangular processing part 42 executes rectangular processing to the judged intra-frame area. Since a main scanning counter 43 and a sub-scanning counter 44 always indicate the coordinate value of picture data, the coordinate value of the rectangle is outputted to a rectangular information storing part 45, which stores the coordinate value in registers 45a to 45c. When three sets of rectangular information are stored, a storage recognizing part 46 sets up a flag and stores the data of the register 45c in a register 46a. A CPU 32 recognizes the flag, fetches the data of the registers 45a to 45c, and after resetting these data, the CPU32 allows the canner to restart prescanning from a position based upon the data of the register 46a. |
