The hollow tubular element (1) is open at both ends, and forms a hollow body (7) when the end sections (9,10) are attached to contain air, water or solids. Each of the end sections, or caps, is extended axially by a neck section which has a small cross-sectional area compared to the main tube section. An internal piston (11) slides inside the tube, forming two separate sealed compartments (12,13). The piston is pierced through by a hole (14) which carries a central stem (15) which is fixed rigidly to the piston, but able to slide through the neck holes of the end caps, to enable the position of the piston to be adjusted.
