The microwave applicator has a microwave generator (G) and a metal wave guide (11) of rectangular section. The wave guide forms a cooking enclosure, the bottom of which is a removable flat metal support (T) for the biscuit (6). The microwave generator is connected to the applicator wave guide (11) by an auxiliary guide (15). The auxiliary guide is at an angle to the cooking surface. The angle is set to the Brewster angle so that the electric field is perpendicular to the metal support (T). The support may be a shallow metal dish, or a conveyor belt. The ends of the applicators have protection (16) against microwave leakage.
