INSPECTION APPARATUS FOR CYLINDRICAL BODY

PURPOSE:To accurately and rapidly conduct the visual inspection of a pellet having wrong reflectivity. CONSTITUTION:The periphery of a pellet P is pressed to a rotary roller 20 and rotatably supported. End inspecting sensors 26 and a periphery inspection sensor 35 having a laser displacement meter are so disposed oppositely to the end and the periphery of the pellet P as to be reciprocatingly scanned. The surfaces to be inspected are irradiated with spot lights. Reflected lights are received to obtain displacement information regarding a distance to the surface to be inspected and light receiving quantity information. Face information and outer shape information are obtained from the displacement information and the light receiving quantity information with the rotating information of the pellet P and the scanning position information of the respective sensors as parameters based on the displacement information and the receiving quantity information by calculating means. Both the pieces of the information are complementarily used and the presence or absence of the surface defect of the pellet is discriminated by discriminating means.
