PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To easily and inexpensively produce an optical connector for communi cation which is used for systems for image transmission and transmission of high-speed light signals, etc., and for which a high reflection attenuation quantity is required. CONSTITUTION:A stem part 11 of a ferrule 10 is composed of a glass material. A polishing stage is constituted of a stage for first polishing the front end of this ferrule to a projecting spherical surface shape, a stage for inserting and fixing an optical fiber 14 from which the coating at the front end is removed into the ferrule 10 by using an adhesive of a photosetting type, a first polishing stage for roughly polishing the ferrule 10 already fixed with the fiber by a lapping film 17 fixed with alumina and a second polishing stage for executing finish polishing with a lapping film 19 fixed with cerium oxide.
