The proposal is for a process for actuating the steering cylinders (11, 12) of mobile plant, especially wheel loaders, graders, mobile excavators or the like, in which the feed currents of at least two hydraulic pumps (2, 3) are brought together continuously or discontinuously depending on predetermined parameters and the resulting feed current is taken to at least one steering drive (10) actuating the steering cylinders (11, 12), whereby if one of the pumps (2 or 3) fails, the back-flow of the feed current of the pump(s) (2 or 3) still in operation is prevented by at least one return device (14, 20) fitted in the pressure line (7, 8) of the individual pumps (2, 3).
