Foundation for supporting a non-stable aqueous subsoil, e.g. of landfill sites, sludge lagoons, swamps etc. comprises geotextile layers (6, 12), under and/or between which a floatable material is arranged. The material can be of wood and/or plastic and can be in put in cushion-like units (11). The textile layers can be reinforced with plastic pipes, which are sealed by caps at their ends. The textile layers may be in mesh form and may be laminated with film.
