Inside profile spatially oriented w.r.t. an external profile, e.g. tubular part of steering shaft, is produced using a mandrel (3) provided with profile complementary to that of the inside surface, which is spatially oriented w.r.t. a die (1) producing the external profile of the hollow tube (2) and is inserted inside it. The assembly is put in a press (10) for simultaneous prodn. of the inside and external profiles. The mandrel can be provided with a front section (3a) which has a smaller diameter than the diameter of the remainder (3b).
