A blood processing assembly (10) includes a centrifuge (14) contained within a heated housing or chamber (16). A heater assembly is provided that is connected to the chamber (16) for maintaining the temperature of liquids within the interior of the chamber (16) during processing, the assembly including a closed loop air conduit (42) having an inflow opening (46) discharging into the chamber (16) and an outflow opening (44) for receiving air into the loop (42). An air flow impeller (50) is in the loop (42) for causing a flow of air therethrough, a heating element (56) in the loop (42) for heating air flowing therethrough, and a temperature sensor (52) in the loop (42) for sensing the temperature of air flowing into the loop (42) from the chamber (16), the sensor (52) being operatively connected to the heater (56) to control the operation thereof to maintain the temperature of the air in the chamber (16) within a selected range.
