<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily and effectively add useful bacteria to a septic tank by enclosing a bacterium holders which have plural small holes and are fermented by adding water thereto into a container and installing this container in the septic tank in such a manner that these small hole exist under the water surface of sewage. CONSTITUTION:This bacterium adding device A has a cylindrical container l of which the upper part is formed a wall-like part 1-1 and the lower part as a meshed part 1-2. Its bottom part 1-3 is provided with the plural small holes. The opening in the upper part of the container 1 is capped by a cover 2 having a knob 2-1. Buoyancy is imparted to the container 1 by fitting floats 3, 4 provided with a handle 4 onto the container. The bacterium holders, for example, the bacterium holders formed by mixing EM bacteria, rice sugar and chaff, fermenting the mixture and drying the mixture are housed in the container 1. Such bacterium adding device A is used by installing the device freely suspendably in the settling and separating chamber of the septic tank.
