PURPOSE:To provide a printer controlled so as to minimize the deterioration of image quality. CONSTITUTION:When a printing image is developed on an RAM 5, a CPU 1 calculates the quantity of an image to judge whether the quantity of the image exceeds a predetermined value and, in the case exceeding the predetermined value, resolving power in a main scanning direction is converted from usual 600 dpi to 300 dpi. When the quantity of the image exceeds the predetermined value even in the converted resolving power, resolving power in a sub- scanning direction is also converted from usual 600 dpi to 300 dpi and the converted resolving power is set to a video controller 6 and a smoothing circuit 7 to perform smoothing processing and outputted to an engine 9 to perform printing suppressing the deterioration of image quality. |
