PURPOSE: To enhance durability of transferred image by laminating an ejection layer, comprising a polymer having a specified decomposition temperature, a heating layer, and a transfer layer comprising a polymer having a specified decomposition temperature and an imageable component. CONSTITUTION: A donor element for use in a laser-induced thermal transfer process comprises a support sequentially bearing an ejection layer, comprising a first polymer having a decomposition temperature T1 , a heating layer, and a transfer layer comprising a second polymer having a decomposition temperature T2 and an imageable component, with T2 >=(T1 +100). The polymer in the ejection layer suitably includes polyacrylate ester, polymethacrylate ester, or the like, and the decomposition temperature T1 is preferably 325 deg.C or below. The heating layer absorbs laser radiation and converts it into radiation, and the suitable inorganic substance includes transition metals, or the like. The polymer in the transfer layer suitably includes styrene/methylmethacrylate, or the like, and the decomposition temperature T2 thereof is suitably higher than T1 by at least 100 deg.C. |
