PRODUCTION OF WATER-PERMEABLE BLOCK

PURPOSE:To produce a water-permeable block having a flexural strength and a water permeability comparable to those of the conventional specification product without causing expansion, cracking, etc., due to firing by using burned ash produced when municipal wastes as general wastes are incinerated, fly ash and glass powder (crushed waste bottle) and press-molding it with a ready handling. CONSTITUTION:Clay and/or a plasticizer is added to burned ash of municipal wastes or fly ash and the resultant mixture is moistened, kneaded and subsequently granulated. The granulated material is sintered at 1000 to 1300 deg.C and the sintered compact is crushed. The resultant crushed materials are used as the raw material of an aggregate and 0.15 to 0.5 pts.wt. glass power (crushed waste bottle) is added thereto. An aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution as a molding assistant is also added thereto and the obtained mixture is molded. The molded material is then sintered at a temperature of <= the above sintering temperature.
