<p>PURPOSE:To insert a new pipe into an existing pipe of longer distance by providing an underwater inserter remotely controllable on the surface of the sea in a pipe end part in the sea bottom surface of an existing submarine pipe cut off in the halfway, and inserting the new pipe from a work bench on the surface of the sea by the underwater inserter, so as to facilitate inserting work. CONSTITUTION:In an existing submarine pipe 2, an underwater inserter 3 is connected to a pipe end part 2a, cut off in the halfway, in a sea bottom surface 8. This underwater inserter 3 comprises a clamp 10 clamping the periphery of a new pipe l and a chuck mechanism 11 clamping the existing pipe 2, to perform inserting the new pipe l by actuating a jack 12 connecting the clamp 10 to the chuck mechanism 11. Adjacent to the underwater inserter 3 in the sea bottom surface 8, a supporting roller 4 is arranged in a position prevented from interfering with work so as to make axial lines agree of both the pipes l, 2. The new pipe l is fed out to the sea bottom surface 8 from a work ship 5 on the sea, while supporting the pipe by stinger rollers 6 serving as a pipe supporting device.</p> |
