发明名称 METHOD FOR PROCESSING FLAMEPROOFING OF WOVEN FABRIC
摘要 PURPOSE: To increase loading of phosphorus compounds and to impart a higher degree of flame-retardant properties in subjecting a fabric mainly comprising a cellulose-based fiber to flame-retardant treatment by using a specific treating method. CONSTITUTION: A fabric composed of a cellulose-based fiber, preferably comprising 60% of cellulose fiber and 40% of polyester fiber is impregnated with an aqueous solution of a poly(hydroxyorgano)phosphonium salt, e.g. tetrakis(hydroxyalkyl)phosphonium chloride or a condensate of the phosphonium salt and a nitrogen-containing compound (e.g. urea), dried to 13 to 25% residual moisture content and cured with ammonia to produce a cured water-insoluble polymer which is physically fixed within the fibers. The impregnated fabric is allowed to stand 1 hour and the cured polymer is oxidized with H2 O2 to convert trivalent phosphorus to pentavalent phosphorus. The fabric is washed with an alkali and dried. This in turn enables a phosphonium compound 'add- on' of 50 to 73% relative to the weight of the fabric and gives an unprecedentedly higher degree of flame-retardant properties.
