PURPOSE:To prevent the over-filling of ink and the leakage of ink caused thereby, in a liquid storage container having an ink absorbing member built therein and capable of being refilled with a liquid, by making the absorbing member deformable by the member inserted in a part of the absorbing member from the outside. CONSTITUTION:The ink filling nozzle of an ink bottle is inserted in an ink jet cartridge wherein ink is exhausted from an ink injection port 5 and pushed in deeply to compress a deformable absorbing member to fill the ink jet cartridge with ink. When the ink filling nozzle is pulled out at the point of time when the filling is completed, the deformable absorbing member 6 is restored to the original shape. Whereupon, since the deformable absorbing member 6 is not impregnated with ink up to now, a part of the ink infiltrated into the absorbing member 6 by capillary force is contrarily returned to the deformable absorbing member 6. This movement of ink is continued until the balance with the capillary force of the deformable absorbing member 6 is matched. By this constitution, the vol. in a cylinder 8 is equivalently increased and a filling rate is lowered and the absorbing member generates the holding force corresponding to reduced vol. |
