PURPOSE:To obtain a preventive which effectively prevents aquatic organisms from attaching to a ship bottom, etc., and exhibits excellent preventive effects for a long term by incorporating a specific clathrate compd. into a coating compsn. CONSTITUTION:1,1,2,2,-Tetrakis(p-hydroxyphenyl)ethane of formula I is used to enclose therein 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazoline-3-one of formula II to give a clathrate compd., which is compounded into a coating compsn. to give a preventive against attachment of aquatic organisms (e.g. corn barnacle). Pref. the coating compsn. contains a resin component such as an acrylic or urethane resin as the base component, an extender pigment (e.g. calcium carbonate), a coloring pigment (e.g. titanium white), etc. Since the effective component (the compd. of formula II) highly irritant to the skin is enclosed in the compd. of formula I, safety during coating is assured and the release rate of the compd. of formula II can be decreased. |
