PURPOSE:To fix carbon dioxide by the solar rays by constituting a catalyst for fixing carbon dioxide by making a visible light excitation type semiconductor supported with a light pervious base material in molecular thickness level and bringing carbon dioxide and water into contact with this catalyst under the irradiation with the solar rays to synthesize oxygen-containing hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for fixing carbon dioxide is constituted by making a visible light excitation type semiconductor supported with a light pervious base material in molecular thickness level. Oxygen-containing hydrocarbon is synthesized from carbon dioxide by bringing carbon dioxide and water into contact with this catalyst under the irradiation with the solar rays.
