PURPOSE:To obtain a precursor sol compsn. with improved weatherability by compounding an org. solvent soln. of a specific hydroxylated fluorocopolymer, a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane or a condensate of a partial hydrolyzate thereof, and an acid catalyst in a specified wt. ratio. CONSTITUTION:This compsn. having a low viscosity is prepd. by compounding an org. solvent soln. of a fluorocopolymer (A) produced mainly from a fluoroolefin (e.g. tetrafluoroethylene) and an alkyl vinyl ether (e.g. cyclohexyl vinyl ether) and having hydroxyl groups in the molecule, a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane (B) (e.g. methyl silicate) or a condensate of a partial hydrolyzate thereof in a wt. ratio (on the solid base) of A to B of (1/3)-(4/1), and a strong org. acid catalyst (e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid) in an amt. of 0.1-2.5wt.% of the sum of A and B. The compsn. is applied to a substrate and dried spontaneously or forcibly to give a fluorocopolymer-silica glass hybrid. |
