A digital servo with improved control accuracy is proposed, in which the arithmetic average value of a sequential sequence of n data words is used as the basis for a set value for a set value/actual value comparison (13) which is provided for the derivation of a control signal. Depending on the value of the arithmetic average value, in this way even intermediate values of adjacent quantisation stages can be detected and taken into account in terms of control technology.
