<p>In a rectangular composting bed installation (1, 2) the material is spread in transversely extending heaps. A device (11-13) for spreading the material is arranged on a bridge (10) which extends transversely across the composting bed (2). A device (20, 21) to receive the material so that it can be shovelled into continuously new heaps is arranged on a second bridge (19) which extends transversely across the composting bed (2), the device (20, 21) being displaceable along the bridge (19). Both bridges can travel in the longitudinal direction of the composting bed (2), the first bridge (10) travelling beyond the second bridge (19). The former device (11-13) is supplied by a conveyor belt (4) which extends along the composting bed (2) and onto which the device (20, 21) for receiving the material delivers the said material via a conveyor belt (20) which extends along the second bridge (19). To spread the subsequent heaps after the first one, the former device (11-13) is arranged behind the device (20, 21) for receiving the material in the conveying direction of the first conveyor belt (4). This composting bed installation can operate in a variable, and therefore more efficient, fashion. <IMAGE></p> |
