PURPOSE:To detect a part where a cloth is stitched upside down by comparing the pattern on the surface of a long cloth measured by means of an image sensor with a preset reference pattern thereby determining the surface and the rear of the cloth. CONSTITUTION:A CCD camera (image sensor) 5 picks up the image of a long cloth 2 being fed out from a truck 1 and carried while being guided by guide rolls 4. The composition (texture) on one side of the cloth 2 is then detected and a composition (pattern) signal is delivered to a signal processor 7 where a predetermined sampling is performed and a signal is delivered to an image processing circuit 10. The circuit 10 compares the standard pattern on the surface of the cloth, received from a standard pattern input circuit 11, with a measured pattern. When the patterns match each other, the fact that the cloth 2 is stitched correctly is notified through a monitor 8 or an alarm indicator 9. When the patterns do not match each other, a decision is made that the cloth 2 is stitched upside down at a temporary. stitching section and the fact is alarmed through the indicator 9. |
