PURPOSE:To make a scroll display slowly when the contents of displayed data are large or fast when small without making the scroll display in a certain display time at all times as to the generally applied data display device of a character data processor which displays dictionary data, document data, etc. CONSTITUTION:For example, when English-Japanese dictionary data read out of a memory card 16 are displayed, word by word, at a liquid crystal display part 18, a central processing unit(CPU) 11 counts characters of character data to be displayed as one division consisting of an English word and its Japanese equivalent and a display time is set according to the counted number of characters; while this set display time is counted by the counter 17a of a timer 17, English-Japanese data of one division are displayed and then English- Japanese data of one division corresponding to a next English word are read out, so that the time setting and display processing are repeated. |
