PURPOSE:To conduct calibration with high accuracy using the output signal of reading means by providing a color patch group in which a write value is increased on an output of a color patch and color patch group in which a write value is decreased on an output of a color patch to the system. CONSTITUTION:A patch generating circuit 11 gives a color patch signal to a printer control section 12 via a selector 21 to control a printer main body, from which a color patch is outputted. The color patch outputted on recording paper is read by a patch read section 10. An image tip signal from the printer control section 21 detects a patch position. The printer main body outputs a patch group for plural number of times and an averaging circuit 23 obtains a gamma characteristic of an averaged single color. A correction value decision circuit decides a correction value based on the gamma characteristic to be obtained and an object input output characteristic of the printer to be scheduled. The correction value is set to a RAM of an image processing circuit 25 to execute calibration accurate. As an example of the color patch, a patch group 13 in which a write for an output of the printer is increased for each of 8-gradation and a patch group 14 in which a write for an output of the printer is decreased for each of 8-gradation are arranged side by side. |
