END FACE TREATING DEVICE OF PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To avoid forming a gap between the fused part of a ferrule and a plastic optical fiber by improving an end face treating device of the plastic optical fiber in order to prevent generation of crack. CONSTITUTION:This end face treating device is composed of a easing 10 which is opened at the front surface, a heater for heating which is housed in the casing 10, a heating plate 30 which is mounted atop the casing 10 and a heating plate cover 40 as a fixing means for fixing the heating plate 30 to the casing 10. The heating plate 30 is a rectangular planar member formed of metal having good thermal conductivity and is composed of a thick part 31 and a thin part 32 formed at its peripheral edge. A blind hole 33 to be fitted with the front end of the ferrule is formed at the center of the thick part 31 and many radiating holes 34 are formed around the blind hole 33.
