The appts. being checked tracks the missile and determines its deviation in X and Y coordinates from target line, using two near infrared CCD detectors for near and far fields, and a checking collimator. The device incorporates one or more near infra-red emitting LED's (13a), a diffusion plate (14) and a collimating lens (15) in a common housing (11) on the optical axis (A). It is fixed by means of a bayonet attachment or similar union (16) directly in front of the entry window of the tracking appts. (17).
