ACCESS PROVISION SYSTEM AND CONNECTION AUTOMATION JUDGEMENT METHOD

PURPOSE: To automatically judge a type of a network and a type of a physical medium by transmitting an inquiry signal between respective ports and judging connection of the network in the respective ports based on the status. CONSTITUTION: An inquiry frame is transmitted to respective external connectors 28b to 28e. A transmission result is stored in a TSR 40, polled by an MPU 22 and stored in RAM 23. Transmission of an LLC inquiry frame in which a protocol handier 34 follows a specified protocol on a specified connector is required especially by the MPU 22. The request is received, the inquiry frame is generated and transmitted to a transmitting/receiving circuit 30 by the handler 34. The transmission result is monitored by a transmitting function circuit 36 and status of transmission is stored in a TSR 40. The status is taken out of the handler 34, stored in the RAM 23 and the inquiry frame is requested to be issued to the next external connector by the MPU 22. The transmission result is monitored and the transmission status is stored in the TSR 40 after transmission by a circuit 36. The operations are repeated till the end of test.
