ON-DEMAND VIDEO SERVER

PURPOSE:To obtain a on-demand video server able to send data in response to simultaneous requests from comparatively large number of users (1000 or over). CONSTITUTION:Disk sections (1101 or the like) store cyclicly video data in the unit of segments subject to compression coding in a distributing way. A network control section 1030 sends video data read from the disk sections (1101 or the like) to a network 1010 via a local bus 1090 in response to a command of a CPU 1050. The network control section 1030 stores the video data received from the network 1010 to a buffer memory 1060 via a CPU bus 1040 in response to the command of the CPU 1050. A user service control section 1070 sends data read from the buffer memory 1060 to a user group 1110 in response to the command of the CPU 1050.
