PURPOSE:To reduce the number of product masters for retrieving PLU in a POS terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:A bar code numeric string is divided into the part of a code becoming the key of retrieval using a price look up table 4 and the part of other codes showing detailed information on a single product. Thus, only one of the products whose unit prices and product names are the same is set as the product master. A bar code which is read by a bar code scanner 1 is stored in an external storage device 3 with other sales information. Then, the single product is more minutely managed by the remained codes which are not considered to be the keys at the time of retrieval. |
