PURPOSE:To omit intermediate work, to improve the rate of translation and to remove the waste of recording paper by recognizing and translating language described in a document picture received through a line and generating a document picture based upon the translated language. CONSTITUTION:A translation board 112 recognizes characters from a document picture written by English e.g. translates the recognized contents into Japanese and generates a Japanese document picture based upon the translated result. When a translation switch is ON, a scanning request is outputted to a scanner controller 104 and read picture data are stored in a storage device 110. After completing the storing processing of a series of original pictures, the board 112 reads out picture data in each page from a picture file, judges langage based upon which language dictionary stored in a storage device 110 includes the character-recognized word, and when translation is available, executes translation processing based upon the picture file, stores a Japanese document picture file in the device 110, and prints out the stored contents. |
