PURPOSE:To suppress power consumption in the standby state of a printer to the absolute minimum by freely setting the temp. of a heater with the combination of a printing frequency with an ambient temp.. CONSTITUTION:This electrophotographic printer is constituted to provide an image forming means forming an image in such a manner that toner is stuck to a material on which the image is formed and thermally fixed, a printing frequency storage part 32 reading, storing and updating the printing frequency, a thermistor 31 detecting the temp. of the heater, an ambient temperature sensor 41 detecting the ambient temp., an ambient temperature detecting circuit 39 and a heater temperature deciding circuit 38 freely setting the temp. of the heater by the combination of the printing frequency with the ambient temp. Then, transition to a low power consumption state is attained and a timer in a CPU 40 starts to count and counts time until the low power consumption state is released, to update the printing frequency wherever a specified time lapses. Thus, the set temperature of the heater is reset low whenever the printing frequency is reduced. |
