The column (3) mounted on a pedestal (2) carries a shelf (4) for small articles and a rail (5) on which thermal bands provided for localised heat treatment of the body are hung when not in use. The control panel (7) has a row of electric current socket outlets (9) corresp. to the number of bands, each with a potentiometer (10) for precise adjustment of pulses to levels indicated by an array of LED's. Low power for definitive depilation, and high power for slimming treatment can be selected (12). Operation is inhibited during warm-up to ideal working temp.
