PURPOSE:To provide the color liquid crystal display device which can obtain a bright color display by coloring light without using any color filter and display plural colors by one pixel. CONSTITUTION:This color liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal cell 20 wherein liquid crystal molecules are twisted and oriented, a top surface side polarizing plate 31 which is arranged on the top surface side of the liquid crystal cell 20, a reverse surface side polarizing plate 32 which is arranged on the reverse side of the liquid crystal cell 20, and a phase difference plate 33 which is arranged between the top surface side polarizing plate 31 and liquid crystal cell 20; and the liquid crystal molecule twist angle of the liquid crystal cell 20 is set to 120+ or -20 deg. and the axis of transmission of the reverse surface side polarizing plate 32 is deviated obliquely to the orientation direction of liquid crystal molecules on the surface of the reverse surface side substrate 22 of the liquid crystal cell 20. |
