<p>PURPOSE:To control a traveling phase of a helical recording track with a simple constitution by recording and reproducing a control signal in a helical control area provided in one end part of the helical track of a tape and controlling the traveling phase of the tape. CONSTITUTION:In a recording mode a tape traveling phase control circuit 17 records, based on helical control signal data S3 generated by means of a signal generation circuit 22 under the control of a controller 16, a helical control signal in the plunging side position of a pair of recording tracks TRA and TRB by using the head EA of two erasing heads EA and EB via a memory 23, an encoder 24, a modulation circuit 25 and a recording amplifier circuit 26. Thus, while a helical control signal recording area TRCTL is formed in the tracks TRA and TRB, by means of recording/reproducing heads HA to HD tracks TRA to TRD are formed on a tape 19 along the traveling direction thereof. These are picked up by means of a non azimuth rotary head and the traveling phase of the tape 19 is controlled by means of the helical control signal.</p> |
