The basket, which can be made from a natural prod. in hot countries, and esp. from the leaf of the coconut palm, is produced by interweaving the fronds on each side of the leaf's main rib (2) to form a bag (14) which is pointed at the bottom and has a flat section with the rib in the centre from which it can be suspended.
