PURPOSE:To provide the presser member for a secondary cell, which is excellent in shape retaining performance for power generating elements and in corrosion resistance, concurrently acts as a lead member for a positive electrode terminal, and easy to manufacture, and let the presser member practically match a rectangular shaped-cell. CONSTITUTION:The presser member 11 which maintains the shape of each secondary cell power generating element winding both a positive and a negative electrode via a separator, is made out of copper stainless clad material, where the volmetric ratio of copper is 5 to 20%. The vickers hardness of stainless shall be Hv 250 to 350 if stainless in the copper-stainless material is in a ferrite system, and the vickers hardness of stainless shall be Hv 250 to 400 if stainless is in an austenite system. An alkali secondary cell is housed in a metallic container in a closed end rectangular cylindrical shape. The cell is composed of each power generating element which winds both the positive and negative electrodes in a rectangular shape via a separator, and is fixed by a presser member made out of copper-stainless material where let the presser member also function as a lead member for the positive electrode. |
