PURPOSE: To provide a frictional material to be used for a brake and the like, capable of reducing the resonance noise, improving the abrasion resistance, improving the performance as the frictional material, and reducing the leaving of the fiber scrap. CONSTITUTION: This improved frictional material 14 comprises a honeycomb core reinforcement 22 partitioned by cell walls and comprising a number of adjacent cells with opened ends, and a hardened mixture 20 of friction improving particles, filler particles and a binder, filled in the cells with opened ends of the core reinforcement and bonded to the cell walls. The honeycomb core is preferably made out of aluminium alloy, various fiber reinforcement resin and a ceramic material, and has preferably 0.032 g/cm<3> through 0.32 g/cm<3> of apparent density, and the cell walls have 1.6 mm-25 mm distance. A brake can be manufactured with this material. Two kinds of frictional materials may be prepared to manufacture a hybrid component. |
